This project by New North Press makes my heart sing! It advances the tradition of a moveable type system and analogue typesetting conventions. The modular hexagonal blocks are laser cut to create geometric relief patterns which reference architectural forms - when the type high and lower white space hexagons are composed and printed they create glorious analoguebitmap letterforms.
"The blocks, named ‘AHP Six’, are a modular set that can be tessellated to create letterforms, borders, patterns or any variety of outcomes. Expertly laser-cut from maple by Thomas Mayo, the hexagonal blocks contain several different shapes and patterns making for a range of textures and effects."
