Perfect for enthusiasts of great design, these tours have been created to mark the 100th anniversary of the ‘Johnston’ typeface, designed by Edward Johnston in 1916. On the tour you will discover how an expert in mediaeval handwriting devised a marvellously modern alphabet, together with an iconic logo, to help make London’s transport easier to use. You will hear about the challenges, and ultimate success, of designs so strong and adaptable that they now represent the idea of London itself. The Johnston Journeys tours have been made possible by the generous support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
All tours last for approximately one hour and 30 minutes. Tickets must be pre-booked online or via our Ticket Office on +44 (0)20 7565 7298 (open 10.00-17.30 daily) Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
