You are invited to the private view for Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma Design for Visual Communication that will be held 6-9pm Wednesday 29 June. We are in the main Upper Street Gallery at London College of Communication.
The show continues between Thursday 30 June to Tuesday 5 July. The display comprises 56 posters with dimensions 600mm wide by 1500mm deep. The posters incorporate research images blending into the final item thus revealing a part of the R&D process. The publication is 64 pages printed lithographically at LCC in full colour on Fenner uncoated paper. As well as presenting the work of 56 students the publication has two special design activism features separated by 50 years. The first is ‘Design’s Gender Divide’ which investigates the campaigning work of women in design. The second feature is written by Ian McLaren and presents the role mid-century British modernists played in socio-political protests of the 1960s. The 4 page cover is on a silver grey stock with type printed from our giant wood block letters and numbers. The end wall of the gallery will have three screens installed with a phased moving image sequence of work. To the right of this is an open reading room with visual reports that follow up on the poster display.
